Kingdom Focused Evangelism
There are many Scripture verses that support evangelism. Acts 1:8 is one that Jesus left with the disciples just before He ascended to heaven.
8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witness both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth. (Acts 1:8, NASB)
Many people believe they are not capable of evangelism. They believe they have to memorize a lot of Scripture to be able to do evangelism. The reality is though that anyone no matter how long they have been a Christian, or how much Scripture they have memorized is able to do evangelism. In his book The Invitation, Richard R. Osmer states, "Evangelism is the ministry of inviting others to hear Christ's call to come and follow him."1 Every follower of Jesus has their own Jesus Story, that is their testimony, how Jesus has saved them. It is helpful to have Scripture memorized, but that should not hold a disciple back from sharing their Jesus Story with others.
There are many different evangelism tools out there, from Scripture to memorize, to object illustrations, to simple things that help us move from everyday stories to sharing our Jesus Story. The best tool is the one that works for that specific disciple at the time they are presented with the opportunity to share their faith with a lost person.
There are times when believers do not feel like they do not have a testimony or a Jesus Story or that their testimony, Jesus Story is useful. Every true believer has a testimony, Jesus Story, and it may not be that they were a drug addict and then got saved and God delivered them from that addiction and saved them from that life, but to the person that the Holy Spirit leads that believer to share their story with, it will be powerful. God will use each believer to share their Jesus Story, if they will just make themselves available to God and be willing to be used to share their story. It is all about obedience, will you obediently share your story of how Jesus has changed your life for His glory.
